Around the world in 8 languages

This video is a compilation of some of the videos I’ve made over the last year and a half. Rather than just being in one language, I’ve mixed it up with the 8 languages I know right now! Enjoy :)

    In all seriousness, I too LOVE languages (I speak Spanish, Chinese, and
    German) and would like to learn more. Especially, Portuguese after my trip
    to Brasil 2 months ago. I'm also a HUGE CS'er. I write articles about it
    on GoBackpacking.com. So, I think you and I have a ton in common and it
    would be a lot of fun to meet for OJ. ;-)

    Fingers crossed our paths cross at some point!

    This video isn’t proof that you are fluent in those languages. As well as the video on your other web site isn’t. You are only a narrator here. If We see you in fast conversation with native speakers it’ll be the proof. If you are really fluent make such video. Then I’ll buy your Guide. And many others.

    Please look at more than one page of my sites before making accusations that I don’t speak my languages. Look on this site for “interview in Spanish” to hear me interviewed LIVE on the radio in Spanish with a native, search my Youtube channel for “interview in German” and “interview in Hungarian” (the latter not “fluent” but the result of 2 months to reach conversational) to see more spontaneous conversations and finally, use your common sense.

    You’re obviously not going to buy my guide – you’re only interested in nitpicking.

    Take it easy amigo. There are no accusations here. You feel insulted too easy. I only wanted to be sure that you are really fluent in eight languages, and that it’s possible to achieve in so short period. As a language counselor (or a teacher) and a businessman you should have more tact to alert customers. You can’t know what my motive is and whether I will buy your Guide or not.
    I’ve just saw your interviews in Hungarian and German on YouTube. And I’m very glad to see them. Why don’t you put such videos in this site? They are much more interesting than eating in Italy and dancing in Argentina, of course, for us who are interested in learning languages but have not enough time to search every page on a site.

    I’m sorry but you are on a totally different mindset to the kind of people I write to. I’m not interested in endlessly discussing learning languages. I want to push people to using them. Cultural immersion of actual use in videos more relevant to the culture is so much more interesting than just watching me talk. Voice-offs are a recording style in documentaries.

    I wouldn’t have even uploaded interviews, but I got tired of all of these demands from people who think I am lying about speaking the languages. I prefer to make a video that is interesting in itself.

    Sharing my experience dancing tango in Buenos Aires is miles more interesting than it would be to hear me ramble on about my life in Spanish. My RSS video in Spanish was shared thousands of times for example – its purpose is to be interesting to natives, not to impress English speakers that I can speak Spanish.

    I’m not a language counsellor, teacher or businessman. I’m a traveller sharing my language learning tips.

    You won’t get any use out of my guide because it’s about focus on speaking and use of the language such as the themes of my videos and doesn’t discuss nitty gritty language learning grammar points or how to impress people etc. I’m not interested in seeing the world as my “customers” that I have to please to buy my guide.

    Glad you liked my videos, but you seem to totally misunderstand the point of what I’m doing. It’s disappointing when I read comments like this, which seem to miss the point of why one should learn languages.

    The way I’m “insulted” is by the thought that you aren’t interested in all the cultural aspects of how languages can be used. That to me is indeed offensive.

    On last Saturday on Steve Kaufmann’s site I’ve heard of you as of a polyglot who has a very new and different approach to languages learning. Then I found your sites which you named Irishpolyglot and Fluent in 3 Months. My motive was exclusively about languages and I was searching only such kind of information on your site. Both names of your sites are also about languages.
    Beauty of foreign cultures and countries is also one of my main motives to learn languages but I didn’t visit your pages because of that. I didn’t say that your videos were not good; I just wasn’t disposed for that. Besides, there are millions other sites about that and specialized for that. Of course, it’s OK that you put such contents on your sites but when people who are interested in languages and have heard of you as a polyglot, when they visit your sites and see their names, they expect to quickly get important information about your aproach and methods as wel about your polyglot’s sklills.
    You don’t like to see yourself as a businessman but, however, you sell a unique product so, in fact, you are a sort of businessman, obviously not a usual one and maybe just temporarily. I think you’ll agree that there are also good businessmen that improve the world, at least a little. Your product isn’t ordinary, it promises being fluent in a foreign language in three months. If there is only 30 % of truth in this, it’s worth of it. it’s quite OK if you would show your skills and impress people. It needn’t be out of ego and vanity. It can be helpful and hopeful for all of us that we can also remove language barriers in our lives, and do it in much shorter time than it’s usually thought. If someone is still envy it’s his/her problem, not yours.
    And, in the end, I have a question. How many hours a day are needed to be fluent in three months by your method and approach? Of course, for average people.

    You don’t “promise” that a person can become fluent in three months. Okay.

    However this makes the name of this website highly misleading, wouldn’t you say? (Your motives for choosing this name may have been 100% honest – but it is still liable to mislead people.)

    People will always make false assumptions about things. I’m not going to change a blog title that describes my travels extremely well to cater for people who jump to conclusions too quickly and are too lazy to read beyond four words.
